Monsoon Winds Continue to Affect Weather Across Country

Kathmandu: The monsoon winds are currently affecting weather conditions throughout Nepal. According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, the low-pressure line of the monsoon is positioned towards the south of its average location in the west and around the average location in the east.

Presently, the weather is partly to generally cloudy across the country, with light rain occurring in one or two places in Gandaki and Bagmati provinces. The forecast suggests that the weather will remain partly to generally cloudy throughout the day.

Light to moderate rain, accompanied by thunder and lightning, is likely to occur in various parts of the country. There is a possibility of heavy rainfall at one or two locations in Koshi, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Karnali provinces. Tonight, the weather will remain partly to generally cloudy in the hilly regions and partly cloudy elsewhere.

The Department predicts light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning at several locations in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces, and at one or two locations in other provinces over the next 24 hours. Heavy rainfall is also expected at one or two locations in Koshi, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Karnali provinces.

The Department has urged authorities to take necessary precautions to minimize the risks or damage from potential disasters such as floods, landslides, soil erosion, and debris flow. These weather conditions may partially affect daily life, agriculture, health, tourism, mountaineering, and both road and air transport in the affected areas.
